Occupational Therapy Assessments
An evaluation will examine the difficulties a child is experiencing with performing daily activities. Assessment tools may include a combination of the following:
• Beery Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration (Beery VMI)
• Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT-2)
• Client Interview
• Family Report (Interview/Questionnaire)
• Observations (Natural Environment and Clinical)
• Peabody Developmental Motor Scales (PDMS)
• Review of Medical/Educational Records
• Review of Work Samples
• School: Teacher Report (Interview/Questionnaire)
• Test of Visual-Perceptual Skills (TVPS)
• Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT)
• Sensory Profile Questionnaire
• Sensory Processing Measure

A comprehensive report will be written to document the findings of this evaluation process. Vanessa will review the report and findings with the family/client.
With an initial evaluation, you will receive answers for why your child is struggling to meet developmental milestones, and struggling with daily activities. In addition, Vanessa will provide you with suggestions and strategies to help your child succeed. This report will be a plan to address the problem area(s) and be a guide to provide quality intervention.
Occupational Therapy Intervention
A plan of therapy will be decided with the family based on the results of the initial evaluation. To meet specific needs, a variety of approaches are available:
• Direct treatment with the child, individually or in groups weekly
• Home and school visits as needed
• Individual consultation to create plans for the home setting available as needed
• Intensive treatment during school breaks/vacations
Common intervention strategies include:
• Adaptive Equipment/Materials as needed
• Development/Training
• Family/Client Training for home program
• School and Home visits as needed
• Self-Care Training
• Sensory Integrative Techniques
• Therapeutic Activities to strengthen areas of need/deficit
